Winter Plant ID & Foraging ($25)

  • Burfoot Park 6927 Boston Harbor Rd NE, Olympia, WA 98506 Olympia Washington (map)

Course Description

Tuition: $25

Have you ever wondered what plants you could forage for and eat in the winter months in the Pacific Northwest? During this plant-focused class at Burfoot Park along Budd Inlet of the South Sound, we'll do a slow-moving walk through the trails identifying and learning cold weather staples as we go.

In addition to learning about new plants We'll touch on the main points of Honorable Harvesting and ways you can be a community and sustainability-minded local forager. We'll also share our favorite resources we use for learning more about local wild edibles.

This workshop will be led by naturalists Ryan Johnson and Licia Sahagun of Firecraft Northwest.

NOTE - because this is a Thurston County Park, we will not be foraging items to take home, but rather using real-life demonstrations so you can forage on your own at other locations.
